Power is expected to come from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 282 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The engine will reportedly be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations available.
One of the biggest surprises is the return of the ID. Buzz after skipping the 2026 model year. Volkswagen is introducing new Pro S 4Motion and Tourer 4Motion variants, with the Tourer designed specifically for camping enthusiasts. The updated ID. Buzz also receives a new Android-based infotainment platform with app store support, one-pedal driving, a NACS charging adapter, and a revised color lineup that now focuses entirely on two-tone finishes.
Volkswagen is also giving smaller upgrades across the rest of its lineup. The 2027 Taos adds a new Sport trim with black styling details, upgraded wheels, and yellow interior stitching, while the base model now gets more speakers, keyless access, and a refreshed infotainment system.
The Tiguan receives minor improvements including a better rearview camera and Auto Hold technology across all trims. The Jetta gains similar tech upgrades, while the Golf GTI S now comes standard with keyless access and Light Assist.
As for the ID.4, Volkswagen confirmed the electric crossover will eventually return despite production stopping temporarily in America due to weak sales. Spy shots already suggest the model may return with a new identity, possibly as the ID. Tiguan.
Beyond the vehicles themselves, Volkswagen is expanding its connected services with new premium subscription features such as my Q garage integration, assisted lane changing, Air Console gaming, and What3Words navigation support.
