China's Humanoid Robot Boom Is Entering the Real-World Test

A report published yesterday says global humanoid-robot shipments exceeded 22,000 units during the first half of 2026, representing almost a 300% increase compared with the same period a year earlier, according to Counterpoint Research data.
China is at the centre of this expansion, with manufacturers and technology companies working on robots capable of tasks ranging from factory work to more complex human-like movements.
The challenge now is moving from impressive demonstrations to reliable, commercially useful robots that can operate safely and consistently in real workplaces.
